ScoreTurn Privacy Policy

ScoreTurn ("the App") is an Android app that listens through the microphone while you play an instrument and automatically turns the pages of your sheet music. This page explains what information the App accesses and how it is handled.

1. Microphone

The App requests microphone access to recognize your playing in real time. Audio from the microphone is analyzed entirely on your device, in real time, and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere. Microphone use stops as soon as tracking is turned off or the App is closed.

2. Sheet music files (PDFs / converted data)

PDF sheet music you choose to add is stored in the App's private storage on your device. By default (see Section 3), a copy is also uploaded to a conversion server to generate precise note/measure data; you can turn this off in Settings, in which case your PDF never leaves your device.

3. Precision-recognition (OMR) server

The App includes a feature that converts your PDF into precise note/measure data for more accurate page-turning. This is turned on by default and uses a server operated by the App's developer on cloud infrastructure — your PDF is uploaded there for conversion, and both the PDF and the converted result are stored on that server (they are not shared with any other party, and are used only to perform this conversion). From ☰ → Precision recognition server settings you can switch this feature off entirely with a single toggle, in which case your PDF is never uploaded anywhere; or leave it on and enter the address of a server you run yourself instead.

4. Advertising

The App shows banner ads on the home screen, delivered through Google AdMob, to help support development — ads are never shown while you're actively tracking/practicing. Serving these ads involves Google collecting and using data such as your advertising ID, general device and app information, and ad interaction data; this is governed by Google's own privacy policy, not this App's. Where required (the UK/EEA, and anywhere else Google's consent rules apply), the App uses Google's User Messaging Platform to ask for your consent choices — including whether ads are personalized — before any ad is shown; you can review or change this choice at any time from ☰ → Ad privacy settings in the App.

5. Symbol-recognition (tap-to-define) feature

Tapping a musical term on the score to see its meaning uses Google ML Kit text recognition. The recognition model is downloaded once via Google Play services; recognition itself then runs on-device. No captured image or text is sent to the App developer's servers. Google Play services' own data handling is governed by Google's privacy policy.

6. Crash reports (optional)

If the App closes unexpectedly, a crash log (timestamp, App version, device model, Android version, and the technical error details — no personal data) is saved locally on your device only. The next time you open the App, you'll be asked whether you'd like to send it to the developer. Nothing is ever sent automatically — choosing to send it opens your own email app with the report already filled in, so you can review it before sending; choosing not to send it just deletes the log.

7. What the App does not do

• No account or sign-in is required.
• No analytics or tracking SDKs beyond what Google AdMob itself requires to serve the ads described in Section 4 (crash reports in Section 6 and feedback in Section 8 are opt-in each time, not automatic telemetry).
• No personal data is sold. Data shared with Google is limited to what's needed for the OMR server (Section 3, only if left on) and for ads (Section 4), governed by Google's own policies for those services.

8. Feedback (optional)

After you have practiced with a score, the App may ask how it is working out for you. If you choose to respond, the App opens your own email app with the message you wrote, plus the App version, your device model and your Android version, already filled in — so you can read and edit it before sending. Nothing is ever sent automatically; declining, or choosing “Don't ask again”, sends nothing at all.

9. Data retention and deletion

Data stored on your device is removed when you delete a score inside the App or uninstall the App. The default OMR server automatically deletes an uploaded PDF and its converted result 24 hours after conversion. If you point the App at a self-hosted server instead, retention depends on how that server's operator has configured it. A crash log (Section 6) is deleted from your device as soon as you send or dismiss it.

10. Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Ad requests are also configured accordingly (not treated as directed at children or at a user known to be under the age of consent).

11. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the App's features change. The "Last updated" date above will reflect any revision.
